According to the Arizona Department of Gaming, Arizona bettors wagered nearly $650 million on sports in October 2023.
The $648.2 million (£512 million/€590 million) deposited by bettors in Arizona was a 4.8% increase compared to October last year. Compared to September, the value also rose by 6.2%.
The October 2023 deal only includes the $691 million in bets accepted in March 2022.
Nearly 99% of Arizona’s betting revenue came from mobile betting, with just $5.4 million coming from retail betting. It was the seventh time this year that betting turnover exceeded the $600 million mark.
DraftKings and FanDuel generated nearly identical mobile gaming revenue, each reporting about $220 million in October. FanDuel was also the largest retail bookmaker with revenue of $2.1 million.
Arizona’s betting win in October
Players won a total of $591.3 million in October, leaving adjusted gross event betting revenue before free bets of $55.6 million. This amount was lower compared to the $59.7 million generated in September.
In October, free bets and promotional credits totaled $22.6 million, almost all of which came from online operators.
After deducting these free bets, adjusted gross event betting revenue was $33.0 million. This was slightly higher than in September.
The state collected about $3.29 million in privilege fees that month.
