International Game Technology (IGT) has announced that Fabio Cairoli, managing director of its global lottery business, has died.
Cairoli took up the role at IGT in July 2020, having previously served as CEO of the group’s Italian business and operations.
Before joining IGT, Cairoli was Senior Vice President of Business at Lottomatica for almost eight years.
He also held management positions for the Bialetti Group, Star Alimentare and Julius Meinl Italy. He also held senior marketing positions at Motorola and Kraft Foods Italy.
Marco Sala, CEO of IGT, paid tribute to the late Cairoli, calling him an “outstanding manager”.
“He stood out for his passion, drive, sincerity and commitment to results and innovation,” Sala said. “His leadership in global lottery sales and operations, Italian lottery operations, global lottery product and sales development, and global lottery technology and support functions has been unparalleled.
“While these operations remain in capable and experienced hands, we know that many in the industry had personal relationships with Fabio. He was a valued friend inside and outside the industry.
“IGT extends its deepest condolences to Fabio’s family. We dedicate our efforts to supporting their needs during this difficult time.”
iGB would like to express its condolences to the family and friends of Fabio Cairoli.
