International Game Technology (IGT) has partnered with Ponce Plaza Hotel & Casino to introduce online and retail sports betting to Puerto Rico.
As part of the technology and services agreement, IGT will use its PlaySports solutions to power Ponce Plaza’s sports betting offering. Ponce Plaza is located in the city of Ponce on the south coast of Puerto Rico.
IGT and Ponce Plaza will jointly launch Puerto Rico’s first casino-branded retail and mobile sports betting operator. Sports betting is delivered as “PlayBets by Ponce Plaza”.
The agreement expands an existing partnership between the two parties. IGT has been supplying playground equipment to Ponce Plaza in Puerto Rico for several years.
“Ponce Plaza Hotel & Casino has been serving the local community since 2008,” said Ramon Muñoz, general manager of Ponce Plaza. “We couldn’t be prouder to be the first casino operator in Puerto Rico to operate its own sportsbook, offering sports fans a fantastic betting experience backed by a local operator they know and trust.”
Joe Asher, President of Sports Betting at IGT, added: “IGT PlaySports looks forward to helping Ponce Plaza bring the excitement of multi-channel sports betting to fans in the region through our proven technology and comprehensive services.”
“Adding sports betting to its gaming operation will provide Ponce Plaza with a valuable player acquisition tool that will attract new customers to the hotel and enhance the overall hotel experience.”
